You do not have to hit the treadmill to get a cardio burn. Cardiovascular exercise is any activity that strengthens your heart and improves your cardiovascular system; major muscle groups need to contract repeatedly enough to elevate the heart rate to a target level.
If you are looking for cardiovascular benefits from yoga, choose a Vinyasa or “flow” yoga class. If you are looking at Pilates or barre, search classes that are cardio-specific or look for ones with keywords such as dynamic, metabolic, athletic or calorie-torching in the description.
